Shoulder Sleeve Insignia


Description/Blazon
On a yellow disc 3 inches (7.62cm) in diameter overall with a 1/8 inch (.32cm) golden yellow border, a 1 7/8 inches (4.76cm) red and blue taeguk superimposed by a silver gray sword throughout.

Symbolism
Silver gray and golden yellow are colors traditionally associated with the Finance Corps. The taeguk suggests the unit's home area. The sword is indicative of support to the soldier. The golden yellow disc alludes to the bezant, a heraldic symbol for money, and refers to the unit's mission.

Background
The shoulder sleeve insignia was originally approved for the 175th Finance Center on 21 November 1986. It was redesignated for the 175th Finance Command on 27 December 1993, with the description and symbolism revised. The insignia was redesignated for the 175th Finance Center on 6 December 2005. The insignia was cancelled per HQDA, G-1 direction and change of policy on 6 December 2007. (TIOH Drawing Number A-1-728)

Description/Blazon
A gold color metal and enamel device 1 1/8 inches (2.86cm) in height overall, consisting of a demi-eagle wings displayed, on a gold circular field charged with a gold disc bearing a red and blue Korean taeguk superimposed by a gray sword palewise point up issuing from base between a red motto scroll folded and reserved gold arcing to base from between the eagle's wings and inscribed "SERVE AND DEFEND" in gold letters.

Symbolism
Silver gray and golden yellow are colors traditionally associated with the Finance Corps. The eagle, the National symbol, has frequently been displayed on United States currency. The bezant (gold disc) is a heraldic symbol for money and both allude to the mission of the organization. The taeguk refers to the unit's location. The sword suggests support to the soldier and resembles the numeral one signifying the fact that the 175th was the Army's first Pacific Theater Army Finance organization. The red motto scroll signifies the zeal of the unit in pursuit of its mission goal.
